Full Tilt Poker Secures License Renewal
Filco Ltd., which is operating as Full Tilt Poker (FTP) finally has some good news. The company has obtained the approval of Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), the regulatory body for Mohawk territory, to renew the secondary client provider authorization (CPA). However, the company’s French and Alderney licenses remain under suspension.
Full Tilt was the second largest poker room on the web until recently. Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) had then suspended Full Tilt’s primary license.
KGC explained in the official statement that the renewal would last for 2 years. KGC would also be closely monitoring AGCC’s proceedings. Under the Kahnawake regulations, SCPA is available only to those operators who hold a valid license issued by the primary jurisdiction. The regulation also stipulates that the client provider authorizations which are issued by the Commission should be appended to a legitimate interactive gaming license. These authorizations, which are issued by the Commission. are enforceable and valid only as long as the particular interactive license to which the authorization is affixed is in good standing.
A strict procedure
Normally those with suspended licenses are required to re-apply if they need a Secondary CPA. But it is not known whether FTP adhered to this requirement. According to the regulations, if the licenses are allowed to lapse, revoked or suspended, the client provider authorization holder should apply within thirty days for a secondary client provider authorization.
FTP was directed by AGCC to cease to register any new customers, accept deposits from their existing customers or allow players to participate in any form of poker or gambling transaction.
Many wonder how Full Tilt was able to renew its license when a reputed commission like AGCC has already revoked its license. But technically speaking, although the license held by FTP was suspended, it is still valid. AGCC was to conduct a public hearing in order to present evidence about the license suspension. The legal counsel of FTP had requested AGCC that the hearing should be held ‘on camera’. The company said that public hearing might damage the efforts of the company to find new investors. AGCC had granted the request of FTP and the hearing then took place on camera.
Meanwhile, KGC revoked the secondary CPA of another company named Telton Ltd. This company was operating under the brand name GalaxiWorld. A show cause proceeding was conducted by KGC prior to the decision. KGC hasn’t publicly revealed any details about this decision.
