Roulette Strategies
If you want to play games for money then play roulette. The game of Roulette has been around for a very long time and it has evolved, over the years to the game that it is today. There are two varieties of the game of Roulette. They are the American Version and the European Version. The difference between the two versions is that the American version has two house numbers “0” and “00” and the European version only has one house number “0”. The House numbers make up the advantage for the casino because, even thought a player can bet on house numbers, the payout odds are calculated based upon there being 36 numbers and in the American version there are 38 and in the European version there are 37. The one and two house number make the casino a mathematical favorite to win. In the American version with two house numbers the mathematical payout is 96 % and in the European version with one house number the mathematical payout is 97 %.
The Martingale System
The Martingale strategy is a very straight forward one and it has only one fault. This fault might not occur every time that you play the game but over time it will affect the outcome. The Martinagale system is based upon playing the double or nothing proposition bets which are Red and Black or Odd and Even. These bets pay 2 to 1 on a win. The system is very simple in that you start out making a small bet. If you win then you make another bet of the same amount. If you lose the bet then you double the bet on the next spin. If you win that bet you revert to the original bet amount and if you lose then you double it again on the next spin. Assuming that you are playing on a table with a minimum bet of $1.00 and a maximum bet of $500.00, your first bet would be $1.00. If you lose then your bet would increase to $2.00. Sooner or later you will win and get your losses back plus the win from you original bet so the system seems fool proof. The flaw in the system is that a very
long streak of losses would make the size of the bet very large. Starting with a $1.00 bet you would exceed the table maximum bet on the 10th loss. And if there was not a table maximum to be considered, then on the 15th loss you would be betting $16,384.00 to win your original $1.00 bet plus the money that you had lost.
The Labouchere System
The Labouchere system is a progressive betting system similar to the Martingale system but it does not require the drastic double up betting of the Martingale system. The Labouchere system uses a series of numbers that are in a line to determine the bet amount, following a win or a loss. Also different from the Martingale system is that the bet amount does not always decrease after a win. The system is a little more cumbersome because you have to constantly add numbers and change the numbers on the list, in order to determine the bet amount.
The D’Alembert System
The D’Alember system is also know as the pyramid system. Like the previous two systems it relies upon the double or nothing bets or Red or Black and Odd or Even. Instead of doubling a bet after a loss, the bet is increased by a unit after a loss and reduced by a unit after a win. So if you start out betting 10 units, after a loss you would bet 11 and then move your bet up or down 1 unit if you lose or win your bet.
Other Systems
There are a number of other systems and most of the rely upon the increasing and decreasing of the bet size. In the past some players were able to find Roulette Wheels that had a bias and they were successfully able to exploit it. A bias is when the Wheel has a tendency to have the ball land in a certain part of the wheel more than in another part of the wheel. By observing a bias the player can swing the odds of the game over in to their favor. Because players were able to notice and exploit these biases, casinos developed a new kind of low profile wheel back in 1982, that reduced the probability of a wheel developing a bias. On top of that the casinos regularly monitor and test the wheels to see if a bias has developed. Because of these safeguards, the bias system has pretty much been eliminated.
